Lowe’s Foundation awards PBSC $1 million Gable Grant to expand skilled trades programs and develop trades innovation center

Palm Beach State College is one of 10 community and technical colleges nationwide to receive the first-ever round of Lowe’s Foundation Gable Grants to support skilled trades workforce development initiatives. The grants are the first in a five-year, $50 million commitment to help prepare 50,000 people for skilled trades careers. This investment will fund cutting-edge programs in appliance repair, carpentry, construction, electrical, HVAC and plumbing.

Longtime former Workforce Dean Pat Richie passes away

Patricia V. Richie, Palm Beach State College’s former longtime dean of Business, Trades and Public Safety programs, passed away unexpectedly Aug. 24, her family has announced.
Richie, whom many called Pat or Dean Richie, had worked at the College in various workforce roles for 27 years before retiring in January. “Pat truly loved working at Palm Beach State College and spoke very highly and fondly of both her work family and the countless students she had the pleasure of mentoring and leading at the College,’’ her family said in a statement. … Continue reading Longtime former Workforce Dean Pat Richie passes away

PBSC receives $1.3 million from FDOE to enhance workforce education

Individuals looking to quickly upskill, or reskill, to become more marketable in an economy impacted by COVID-19 will find scholarships and accelerated training opportunities at Palm Beach State College through a $1.3 million grant from the Florida Department of Education.   
With this grant, Palm Beach State has partnered with FDOE in the statewide Get There Florida workforce education initiative, announced by Gov. Ron DeSantis on Sept. 24. Dycom creates new hiring partnership with PBSC

Dycom has partnered with Palm Beach State College to create a unique paid internship program that has so far brought 12 computer science students into the company’s Palm Beach Gardens headquarters.
