PBSC awarded five-year grant to continue Upward Bound

Palm Beach State College has been awarded another five-year $1.35 million federal grant to continue its Upward Bound program that helps steer high school students on the path to higher education.
The College will receive $270,375 a year for the program that serves 65 participants per year from John I. Leonard, Lake Worth and Palm Beach Lakes high schools. Williams named Lake Worth campus student services dean

Palm Beach State College’s national search for a new dean of student services for the Lake Worth campus ended internally with the appointment of Van Williams, who served as an assistant dean for the last three years.
The Army veteran with 18 years of higher education experience was chosen from four finalists for the position that drew 283 applicants. He replaced Penny McIsaac, who retired in January after 18 years in the role.

PBSC awarded grants to continue TRIO programs

Palm Beach State College has been awarded three five-year federal grants by the U.S. Department of Education to continue its Educational Opportunity Center and its two Talent Search programs. They are all part of federal grant programs collectively known as TRIO.
Palm Beach State’s EOC will receive $236,900 per year and each of the College’s Talent Search programs $240,000 per year.

Current and former participants of Palm Beach State College’s TRIO programs will celebrate National TRIO Day with two events this week highlighting the successes of the federally-funded programs designed to remove barriers to a higher education for youth and adults.
