For the second year in a row, the Ibis Friends of Veterans Charitable Organization, Inc. has committed to help student veterans at Palm Beach State College.
The organization donated $35,000 from its annual golf tournament to the Palm Beach State College Foundation at the Ibis Golf & Country Club in West Palm Beach. The gift, presented yesterday, was $10,000 more than their previous donation.

The Palm Beach State College Foundation has received $7,000 from the former Boca Raton-based Networking Hispanos group to establish a scholarship in the organization’s name.
“We are passionate about supporting students in their academic goals and wanted to create a legacy at Palm Beach State,” said Emma del Real, founder of Networking Hispanos. “We believe that the funds will go far at the college, where students have so many opportunities to explore different career paths.”

Taking college courses while in high school will become even more attractive for Palm Beach County’s top performing students.
Palm Beach State College has established a new scholarship that will allow high school dual enrollment students who complete 30 college credits with a minimum 3.5 grade point average to finish their Associate in Arts degree for free. Randy Hanna, chancellor of the Florida College System, visited Palm State College today, but he didn’t come empty-handed. He came with checks.
Hanna delivered three checks totaling $40,067 for scholarships aimed at relieving the nursing shortage and helping students who are the first in their family to attend college. Balfour Beatty Construction, the fifth largest general builder in the nation and one of Florida’s largest construction managers, raised $33,500 at their 20th annual golf benefit held March 10 at the Grand Oaks Golf Club in Davie, Fla.
