Palm Beach State College leaders endorse governor’s graduation challenge

Palm Beach State College leaders today accepted Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s statewide “Ready, Set, Work” challenge calling for the achievement of 100 percent graduation rates for full-time students.
College officials said the challenge is formidable but attainable through a concerted effort to improve student completion.

New approach to workforce training planned for the Glades

Palm Beach State College in Belle Glade has partnered with the School District of Palm Beach County and business and industry leaders in the Glades to develop a more streamlined and economical approach to job training for the area’s workforce.
The goal of the new initiative is to encourage business and industry leaders to collectively identify their workforce training needs, with programs to be coordinated and provided by the College.

First-of-its-kind ophthalmic program earns accreditation

Palm Beach State College’s Ophthalmic Medical Technology program has gained recognition as an outstanding training ground for entering the profession of vision care.
This first-of-its-kind program in South Florida was recently awarded accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Ophthalmic Medical Programs, which accredits four levels of training programs for ophthalmic medical technicians. Palm Beach State awarded National Science Foundation grant to boost work-readiness for STEM fields

The demand for skilled technicians in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields has reached a critical level nationwide and in South Florida. With an $868,105 grant from the National Science Foundation, Palm Beach State College plans to do something about it.

Open House offers dental health professionals continuing education
