With the goal of developing a local talent pool for local employers, the City of Boynton Beach, Palm Beach State College, and CareerSource Palm Beach County are partnering to provide college credit certificate programs for City of Boynton Beach residents. The Workforce Readiness Initiative will help those who are unemployed, underemployed, or simply looking for a career change, to gain the in-demand skills that meet the City’s specific employment needs.

PBSC commencement speaker and founder of multimillion-dollar Florida company awarded an honorary degree

Palm Beach State College surprised Alexiou Gibson, the keynote speaker at PBSC’s Spring 2023 Commencement, with an honorary Bachelor of Applied Science degree presented at the ceremony. Gibson, a PBSC alumnus who founded The Transformation Factory, a multimillion-dollar Palm Beach County-based business, said he was overcome with emotion by the “recognition of his achievements with an honorary degree.”

FPL’s $1 million gift to buy laptops for rapid credentialing students

Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) announced today a $1 million donation to buy more than 1,600 laptops for students to use in rapid credentialing programs to obtain the skills they need to get back to work amid the COVID-19 pandemic. 
FPL’s donation comes on the heels of Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida Department of Education launch of the Get There Florida initiative, in which they raised awareness of rapid credentialing programs.

PBSC receives $1.3 million from FDOE to enhance workforce education

Individuals looking to quickly upskill, or reskill, to become more marketable in an economy impacted by COVID-19 will find scholarships and accelerated training opportunities at Palm Beach State College through a $1.3 million grant from the Florida Department of Education.   
With this grant, Palm Beach State has partnered with FDOE in the statewide Get There Florida workforce education initiative, announced by Gov. Ron DeSantis on Sept. 24. Palm Beach State College has earned national top 10 rankings from two prestigious military publishers for the third consecutive year. Military Times and VIQTORY have placed PBSC third and fourth respectively on their lists of the best higher education institutions for veterans, which in turn makes PBSC the highest-ranking Florida school in its category.
