PBSC sees hike in summer enrollment

Summer enrollment is up at Palm Beach State College, and students also are taking more classes than last year.
The headcount for students taking credit and developmental education courses as of June 9 is 18,764, a 2.4%  jump over last year. That represents a 4,041 full-time equivalent (FTE), which also is a 10% increase.

Glades area high school students gain welding skills

A group of high school students is getting a jump-start on training for a high-demand welding career, thanks to an initiative launched at Palm Beach State College in Belle Glade.

Barbatis selected a PTK Distinguished Administrator

Dr. Peter Barbatis, Palm Beach State College vice president of student services and enrollment management, has received a 2017 Distinguished Administrator Award from Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society for his support of the organization as well as initiatives to help students succeed.

PBSC summer enrollment is up 4.5 percent

Palm Beach State College’s summer enrollment is up 4.5 percent, and college leaders attribute much of the growth to strategic recruitment initiatives and scholarships designed to encourage students to finish their education on schedule or sooner.

PBSC Lake Worth campus to open for special hours during winter break

The Palm Beach State College Lake Worth campus will be open for four days during the two-week winter break to help students from all campuses register and prepare for their spring classes.
The Admissions/Registration, Advising, Financial Aid and Disability Support Services offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 21-22 and Dec. 28-29. PBSC climbs to eighth highest producer of associate degrees in the country

With its graduation rates on the rise, Palm Beach State College is now the eighth largest producer of associate degree graduates in the U.S., climbing three notches from last year’s ranking, according to Community College Week.
The annual Top 100 rankings by the education publication show that Palm Beach State awarded 4,598 degrees in the 2012-2013 academic year, a 9 percent hike over the previous year.
