Coleman-Ferrell and Barrett receive highest AFC award

Dr. Tunjarnika Coleman-Ferrell, provost and dean of student services at the Palm Beach Gardens campus, and Sandi Barrett, program director for trade and industry continuing education, both received AFC Honorary Life Membership Awards, the highest award presented by the Association of Florida Colleges.
The awards were presented during the opening general session of the 70th AFC Annual Meeting and Conference held Nov. 6-8 in Palm Harbor.

Coleman-Ferrell to serve as AFC president-elect

Dr. Tunjarnika “Nika” Coleman-Ferrell, dean of academic affairs at Palm Beach State College in Boca Raton, will fill an unexpired term as Association of Florida Colleges president-elect this year and take the helm of the 8,000-member organization in January.
She is completing the term vacated by Robert Van Der Velde, J.D., a former associate dean of academic affairs at the Palm Beach Gardens campus who relocated to California this summer. AFC recognizes Gallon at Region V Conference

Dr. Dennis P. Gallon, president of Palm Beach State College, was recognized Thursday for his contributions to the Florida College System and support of the Association of Florida Colleges.
“We’re going to miss Dr. Gallon,’’ said Michael Brawer, CEO and executive director of AFC, who presented Gallon with a proclamation during the opening reception for the AFC Region V Conference at the PBSC Palm Beach Gardens campus. “He has been a 24-hours, seven days a week president.’’
