PBSC to hold a STEM career panel Sept. 22

Palm Beach State College will hold a STEM career panel at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22 in the Humanities and Technology Building (HT) Room 103 on the Boca Raton campus.
The panel, which is free and open to the public, is hosted by the tresPATHS Project in partnership with the STEM Articulation and Transfer program and the PBSC Career Center.

Androff Cesar wins the Palm Beach State student track under the FAU Wave Program

Palm Beach State College student Androff Cesar is helping high school students access tools and resources to live mindful and organized lives through his award-winning community service program called Mind Check South Florida.
The program was developed through the FAU Wave program, an applied research and entrepreneurial competition that challenges students to develop projects that solve real-world problems.

Rutherford to join PBSC as new VP of Advancement

David Rutherford, a seasoned higher education fundraising chief who also worked for more than 20 years in nonprofit leadership, will join Palm Beach State College as the new Vice President of Advancement.
President Ava L. Parker, J.D., selected Rutherford for the newly created position on her executive leadership team following a nationwide search. Rutherford starts Jan. 16 and will have administrative oversight of the Grants office, College Relations and Marketing and the PBSC Foundation.

AAUW Florida to host girls STEM camp at Palm Beach State and FAU

The American Association of University Women – Florida will host a weeklong residential Tech Trek camp June 12-18 at Palm Beach State College’s Boca Raton campus and Florida Atlantic University for 60 of Florida’s rising eighth-grade girls.

Forbes named Coach of the Year finalist

Kyle Forbes, who last year led the Panthers to their first appearance in the National Junior College Athletic Association Baseball World Series, has been named one of three finalists for the Palm Beach County Sports Commission Coach of the Year.
He is up against John McCormack, head baseball coach at Florida Atlantic University, and Danny Randolph, women’s golf team coach at Lynn University.
