The Palm Beach State College District Board of Trustees recognized Wendy Sartory Link at its Sept. 20 meeting for her service as chair over the last year and her work for the College through the years.

PBSC awards more than 3,200 degrees and certificates

Palm Beach State College awarded more than 3,200 degrees and certificates during two commencement ceremonies May 9 that drew applause, laughter and even some tears from the spring graduates who range in age from 17 to 76.

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam was the keynote speaker at the afternoon ceremony for the 1,839 Associate in Arts transfer degree recipients. PBSC to place time capsule at Loxahatchee Groves campus

Thirty years from now, students and employees of Palm Beach State College’s Loxahatchee Groves campus will have an opportunity to look back through artifacts and handwritten messages to get a glimpse of what the campus is like today.

Grand opening held for PBSC Loxahatchee Groves campus

Palm Beach State College held the grand opening ceremony Tuesday for its new Dennis P. Gallon campus in Loxahatchee Groves named in honor of its former president.
A standing room only crowd packed the lecture hall for the ceremony and ribbon cutting. Others watched the live stream on TV monitors in the hallways of the first three-story, 50,000-square-foot building on the College’s fifth campus.

The Palm Beach State College District Board of Trustees culminated a six-month national search process Wednesday, unanimously choosing Ava L. Parker, J.D., to become the first female president of Palm Beach State College.

PBSC President Dennis Gallon to retire in June 2015

Dr. Dennis P. Gallon, president of Palm Beach State College since 1997, informed the District Board of Trustees today of his desire to retire from that post effective June 30, 2015. The board accepted the decision, expressing sadness but praising his distinguished service and wishing him well.
“President Gallon has been a pillar of the College and the community for the past 17 years,” said Carolyn L. Williams, board chairperson. “We celebrate his remarkable career, and we cannot adequately express our appreciation for his service to our students and to Palm Beach County.”

Gov. Scott reappoints Williams to District Board of Trustees

Carolyn L. Williams, a longtime member of the Palm Beach State College District Board of Trustees, was reappointed by Gov. Rick Scott Thursday to another term.
Her new term, which must be confirmed by the Florida Senate, ends May 31, 2017.
Williams, a retired senior staff advisor for the South Florida Water Management District, is currently chairperson of the five-member District Board of Trustees.  She first joined the board in 1999.
