Ruane to serve as head men’s basketball coach

Palm Beach State College Athletics has selected Michael Ruane to serve as its new head men’s basketball coach. He officially begins May 2.
He was selected for the role from a national pool of more than 200 candidates.
Ruane has been the head men’s basketball coach at the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Conn. for the past 22 years. Richard Grant named PBSC’s head men’s basketball coach

Richard Grant has been named Palm Beach State College’s new head coach for men’s basketball.
Grant will officially begin his duties on Aug. 1. He replaces Martin McCann, who was the head coach for the past five years.
Grant was chosen for the role after a national search.

1978 men’s championship basketball team to be honored

The 1978 men’s basketball team that led then Palm Beach Junior College to its first state title is returning to campus for a reunion celebration.

Veteran coach to lead women’s basketball

Maureen Smith, who has more than 24 years of coaching experience, has been chosen as the new interim coach for the Panther women’s basketball team for the 2017-18 season. She replaces Kris Ruffo, who was the head coach for the past eight years.

Women’s basketball team clinches conference title

The Palm Beach State Women’s Basketball team captured the Southern Conference title last night with an 85-54 road win against Florida Southwestern State College.
The Panthers clinched a tight game victory over Florida Southwestern in January with an eight-point win, but the Buccaneers were no match for Palm Beach on Valentine’s Day. The Panthers jumped to an 11-point lead after the first quarter and the lead swelled to 17 points going into halftime.

Ruffo to lead Palm Beach State College athletics

Kris Ruffo, head coach of the Palm Beach State College women’s basketball team, has been named interim athletic director for the 2016-17 season. Ruffo officially begins the role today.
“I’m passionate about Palm Beach State and the athletic department,” said Ruffo. “We have a great staff in place – a veteran staff whose support of me accepting this position was overwhelming. Yolanda Griffith to enter elite ranks of basketball immortality

Former Palm Beach State College basketball powerhouse and Olympic gold medalist Yolanda Griffith will be honored as one of the greatest in the sport as she takes the stage on June 14 to be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn.

Third annual faculty/staff vs. student basketball game Feb. 20

Palm Beach State College’s Student Government Association on the Lake Worth campus will host its 3rd annual faculty/staff vs. student basketball game at 7 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Elisabeth Erling Gymnasium. Those interested in participating may sign up in the Student Activities Center (BK 107).
