PBSC staff, chapter bring home honors from AFC conference

Sixteen Palm Beach State College staff were recognized at the Association of Florida Colleges 73rd Annual Meeting and Conference. Recognitions ranged from the Best in Show award to an Honorary Lifetime Membership, an Exemplary Practice Award and other achievements and appointments.
Palm Beach State’s AFC chapter was named a Gold-level chapter at the conference, held Nov. 15-18 in Panama City Beach, and the following staff were honored:

Coulter installed as 2021 president, staff win awards at AFC state conference 

Ray Coulter, a Palm Beach State College alumnus and facilities manager at the Boca Raton campus, will take the helm Jan. 1 as president of the 6,400-member Association of Florida Colleges.
Coulter, the current president-elect, was installed at the closing session of the Virtual 71st AFC Annual Meeting and Conference, which was held Nov. 16-20.  “l am very fortunate and very proud to serve as president because this association literally changed my life,’’ Coulter said.

PBSC wins regional and state marketing awards

Palm Beach State College has won four awards for marketing and communications projects from two organizations. District II of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations gave PBSC two first-place Gold Medallion Awards for work created by members of the College Relations and Marketing department. In addition, CRM staff have been recognized with two Awards of Excellence from the Communications and Marketing Commission of the Association of Florida Colleges.

Nineteen Palm Beach State College faculty ― a record number ― are presenting this week at the Association of Florida Colleges International Conference on Teaching and Learning that is underway in Orlando.

Coleman-Ferrell sworn in as AFC president

Dr. Tunjarnika Coleman-Ferrell, dean of academic affairs at Palm Beach State College in Boca Raton, will officially step into her new role as president of the Association of Florida Colleges Jan. 1.
Coleman-Ferrell took the oath of office during AFC’s Annual Meeting and Conference Nov. 1-3 in Palm Harbor, Fla. She is only the fourth College employee to lead the more than 7,000-member organization since its establishment in 1949.

Coleman-Ferrell to serve as AFC president-elect

Dr. Tunjarnika “Nika” Coleman-Ferrell, dean of academic affairs at Palm Beach State College in Boca Raton, will fill an unexpired term as Association of Florida Colleges president-elect this year and take the helm of the 8,000-member organization in January.
She is completing the term vacated by Robert Van Der Velde, J.D., a former associate dean of academic affairs at the Palm Beach Gardens campus who relocated to California this summer. PBSC staff win awards, leadership roles at AFC conference

Palm Beach State College staff and faculty brought home several awards from the Association of Florida Colleges 67th Annual Meeting and Conference for exemplary use of classroom technology, excellence in communications and marketing and outstanding service.
The awards were presented throughout the conference in Lake Buena Vista Nov. 2-4 that drew 400 attendees, including representatives from each Florida College System institution. Palm Beach State wins seven marketing and communications awards

Palm Beach State College has won seven awards for marketing and communications projects from two organizations. All projects were created in-house by members of PBSC’s College Relations and Marketing department.
