PBSC celebrates 90th anniversary at its inaugural Emerald Torch Awards Gala

Palm Beach State College welcomed more than 300 guests for a celebratory night of dinner and dancing at its inaugural Emerald Torch Awards Gala held Saturday, Nov. 11 in the Lake Worth campus Fire Academy Complex.
The sold-out event, hosted by Mistress of Ceremonies CBS 12 news anchor Luli Ortiz, recognized the College’s 90th anniversary, raised funds for student scholarships and honored alumni and other leaders who strengthen the community.

Business entrepreneur fondly recalls tennis playing days at PBJC

Gregory Dillard was born and raised in West Palm Beach. After graduating high school in Atlanta, he returned, entering the Business Management program at then Palm Beach Junior College in 1985.
After his father passed away in 1987, Dillard took an alternate path into the Army where he played for their tennis team from 1988-1991. But his tennis prowess developed while at PBJC.

Tracy says PBSC gave him unique experience with national news crew

Palm Beach State College alumnus Tim Tracy had his sights set on attending the University of Central Florida after high school. Living with his parents at the time, he also wanted to stay working part-time and save money.  He knew attending Palm Beach State for the first two years would allow him to do just that and also give him a great educational start that would prepare him for a larger school.

Firefighter/paramedic says PBSC director was instrumental to his success

Since graduating from Palm Beach State in 2019, Patrick Higley, now a member of the Boynton Beach Fire Department, has embodied the mission of the College, impacting both lives and community throughout his brief yet essential career.
