Colombia native Claudia Zamora came to the U.S. after graduating from high school. Noting a growing demand for computer programmers, she enrolled at Palm Beach Community College to prepare herself for that field.
Beyond the skills and knowledge gained in the classroom, Zamora was one of four students chosen to help design and launch the College’s Help Desk, created to assist employees and students with information technology issues. “This was my first hands-on job in the IT field,” she said. “This job set the stage for future opportunities for me at a time when an inexperienced programmer had a difficult time finding employment.”
Zamora later completed her Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Information Management with a concentration in security and network assurance at Palm Beach State. She currently serves as a security analyst at NCCI in Boca Raton and is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance at Western Governors University.
