The Palm Beach State College baseball team celebrated on their home field yesterday as they clinched their 38th win of the 2015 season and the Southern Conference Championship title in a nail-biter game against Eastern Florida State College.

Palm Beach State College at Belle Glade is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony Feb. 17 to formally dedicate the new multipurpose field, giving intramural sports teams a place to practice and play.
The ceremony will be at 3:45 p.m. on the 225-foot by 345-foot field behind the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center, and it will include remarks from Palm Beach State College President Dennis Gallon. It was no surprise that Soclaina van Gurp, or “Suka” as her teammates call her, excelled in her first year on the Palm Beach State College softball team. A year earlier, she was named Most Valuable Player as a senior at Trinity Christian Academy in Lake Worth.

Thirty golf foursomes gathered on May 9 at The Country Club at Mirasol in Palm Beach Gardens for The Palm Beach State College Foundation’s annual Golf Classic.
The tournament, the Foundation’s premier fundraising event, raised $101,000 to benefit the Foundation’s STEAM initiative to impact the projected shortage of local, skilled professionals in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) fields.

It was a historic 2013 for Palm Beach State College baseball. With the leadership of head coach Kyle Forbes, the team won its first FCSAA state title since 1984 and made its first ever appearance in the NJCAA JUCO World Series.
