PBSC’s Small Business University boasts highest enrollment to date

Palm Beach State College held a Small Business University award Ceremony and networking event on Tuesday, June 25, that was presented by PBSC, the School District of Palm Beach County’s Office of Diversity in Business Practices and Kaufman Lynn Construction.

Small Business University offers small business owners and entrepreneurs eight courses to help start or run a business.

The university program had the highest enrollment, with over 100 students participating per course, which were delivered by six faculty members from PBSC’s bachelor’s program, in collaboration with other experts in the field.

Together, they provided invaluable guidance to small business owners, enabling them to navigate the intricacies of modern business and achieve success.

More than 90 digital badges were awarded by Palm Beach State in Business Essentials and Business Growth Acceleration. In addition, 52 certificates of completion were awarded by the Office of Diversity in Business Practices for those who attended and engaged in six of the eight courses.

These numbers were significantly higher than last year (see chart below).

Several of the small business owners signed up for classes and many have volunteered to serve on PBSC’s advisory board.

Jeff Zalkin from Kaufman Lynn Construction, Patrick Chrysostome, Maricel De Leon and Stefanie Pectal from the Office of Diversity, and PBSC Program Specialist Patricia Alvarez presented this year’s program.
