Palm Beach State College received a special proclamation recognizing its 90th anniversary from the town of Palm Beach Shores during a town council meeting May 22.

Accepting the honor on behalf of the College from Mayor Alan Fiers was Provost of the Palm Beach Gardens campus Dr. Tracy Pellett. Joining him was Susan Del Portal, external affairs manager; Ken Badaracco, interim assistant dean of student services; and Jyrece McClendon, dean of academic affairs.

The proclamation, which was read aloud by town attorney Keith Davis, talked about PBSC’s history, degrees, programs, and its many talented and skilled graduates.

“As we reflect over the last 90 years of training and educating students, we are proud of our history and to have actively partnered over the years with local schools in the area, organizations and businesses,” said Pellett during the meeting.

Other proclamations will be presented recognizing PBSC’s historic anniversary from the Town of Loxahatchee Groves and the city of Lake Worth Beach on June 6 and the Town of Jupiter on June 20.

Throughout the year, PBSC will celebrate its 90th anniversary milestone with activities such as campus celebrations, open houses, innovation initiatives and capital projects. Stories will spotlight the achievements of alumni, students, faculty, staff and community partners on the College’s website. Social media posts and special events will use the hashtag #PBSC90th.
