PBSC athletics co-hosts West Palm Beach Invitational

The Palm Beach State College Athletics Department welcomed several top NCAA Division I women’s basketball teams to its Lake Worth campus gymnasium as co-host of the West Palm Beach Invitational.
PBSC partnered with Keiser University to host the event, which included 10 teams who played in tournaments Dec. 18-21, 2021.
On Dec. 20, PBSC hosted Texas Tech University vs. the University of Mississippi at 1:15 p.m. and on Dec. 21 High Point University vs. Florida Gulf Coast University at 1:15 p.m. and the University of Dayton vs. Clemson University at 3:30 p.m.
More than 300 people attended each game at PBSC.
“This was a big opportunity for the College to engage with the community,” said PBSC Athletics Director John Scarpino. “Not only were the coaches and tournament directors impressed with how we hosted, students, staff and others got the chance to see some of the best talent in the nation play in person. Our goal is to bring more opportunities like this to PBSC, especially ones where we can collaborate with other organizations such as the Palm Beach County Chamber of Commerce and Sports Commission.”

Other teams in the tournament were the University of South Florida, Michigan State University, Louisiana State University and West Virginia University.
The games, which were presented by Destination Basketball and sponsored by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, were livestreamed by FloHoops.
I was at the Dayton-Clemson game, and enjoyed rooting the UD Flyers on to victory! Kudos to Coach Maureen Smith and Athletic Director John Scarpino for helping to make things run smoothly. Good job!
Congratulations John Scarpino for a job well done!!!
