Serra recognized again by American Payroll Association

Palm Beach State College Payroll Director Laurel Serra has received a Citation of Merit, her fourth such recognition, from the American Payroll Association.

The PBSC alumna and certified payroll professional, was recognized during the association’s Congress Xstream: An Online Conference & Expo held June 2-5. An in-person event was originally planned for May in Orlando, but it was cancelled because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Serra was honored for her work as co-chair of the Social Networking and Strategic Payroll Leadership Task Force committees and as a member of the Chapter Recognition and National Speakers Bureau committees. She was first recognized by the APA in 2017 for her work on the Social Networking Committee. Since then, she has broadened her involvement in the APA, the nation’s leader in payroll education, publications and training for more than 20,000 payroll professionals.

“Having the ability to volunteer with the American Payroll Association has given me opportunities to give back to not only my profession, but other educational institutions,” she said. “These opportunities allow me to build relationships with other payroll professionals and help to keep our own payroll department on the forefront of compliance and service to the college. I love this College and what it stands for in this community. Being able to represent us as not only as an employee, but also as an alumna has been rewarding beyond measure.”

Serra began working at PBSC in 2010. She holds an Associate in Arts degree.
