Palm Beach State College art faculty from the Lake Worth, Palm Beach Gardens and Boca Raton campuses will showcase some of their new work in an Art Faculty Exhibit beginning Jan. 10.

The 43 pieces to be displayed are a mix of paintings, photography, mixed media and ceramic and fabric sculptures. They will be available for viewing from Jan. 10 to Feb. 3 at The Art Gallery at Eissey Campus. An opening reception will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 17 in the gallery.

Faculty members showcasing their work are: Leslie Albert, Christopher Barclay, Joshua Davis, Jacques De Beaufort, David Durbak, Nazare Feliciano, Georgeta Fondos, Vernon Grant, Judith Gehrmann, Kristin Miller Hopkins, Jacqueline Kern, Aysen Kocabasi, Brian Kovachik, Daniel Listwan, Charlotte Maloney, Victoria Martin, Sherry Stephens, Wayne Stephens and Bridgit Stoffer.

One piece, titled “Spaceman” by Daniel Listwan, is a ceramic and glass piece that features a science-fiction theme.
“I choose to work predominantly in clay, as my interest in the history of the ceramic figurine seems an appropriate parallel to my interest in the figurines typically found in the world of contemporary toys,” said Listwan. “In bringing together my chosen themes with the figure and the influence of toys, the resulting aesthetic has a decidedly science-fiction vibe.”

It is in the permanent collection of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts in Armenia. Martin’s sculptural work has appeared in the publications: “Ceramics Ireland,” “The Art of the Contemporary Doll,” “Dolls,” “Contemporary Doll,” “Russia Doll Collector” and “Art Doll Quarterly.”
