More than 70 employers to recruit at two PBSC job fairs
Job seekers will find themselves in demand at job fairs on Palm Beach State College’s Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens campuses Oct. 26 and 27. More than 70 employers combined will exhibit at the Job Fair & University Transfer Day events, which are free and open to the public.
Wednesday, Oct. 26
10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Boca Raton campus
Humanities & Technology Building, Room HT 103
More than 20 employers will recruit on the Boca Raton campus, including Allied Barton Security Services, Connection Enterprise Solutions, Florida Highway Patrol, iPic Theaters, HotelPlanner.com, Kiddie Academy and The Watershed Addiction Treatment Programs.
Thursday, Oct. 27
1 – 4 p.m.
Palm Beach Gardens campus
BioScience Technology Complex, Room SC 127
Fifty employers will recruit on the Palm Beach Gardens campus, including Brown Distributing, City of Greenacres, FBI, NCCI Holdings, Nordstrom, Sinclair Broadcast Group, St. Mary’s Medical Center, School District of Palm Beach County, The Breakers and TRC Companies.
The diverse range of organizations signed up quickly for the events. “With the growth of technology companies, health care and hospitality here, I think we have a lot going for us,” said Sandra Jakubow, manager of the Boca Raton campus Career Center. Associate Professor Tracy Joinson agrees. As Career Center coordinator for the Palm Beach Gardens campus, she had such a huge response from employers, she had to create a waiting list. “If job seekers look at the organizations attending, they will be impressed with the quality of local employers and the variety of open positions,” noted Joinson.
Attendees at both fairs will find employers eager to hire for full- and part-time openings, ranging from entry level to managerial, as well as internships. “Although these employers are actively hiring, and the unemployment rate in Palm Beach County is relatively low, job seekers still need to come prepared with a polished résumé and dress professionally,” said Joinson.
University Transfer Days
Several universities also will exhibit at the fairs to provide information on transferring and advanced education options. Schools participating in both fairs include Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, Nova Southeastern University and St. Thomas University. Additionally, at the Boca Raton campus, Barry University, Digital Media Arts College, Florida Institute of Technology, Lynn University and Union Institute & University will exhibit. At the Palm Beach Gardens campus, other schools include Johnson & Wales University, South University and the University of North Florida.
The Lake Worth campus will hold a Fall Transfer Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2.p.m., outdoors on the Student Commons. More than 25 colleges and universities will exhibit, including Florida State University, Marymount University, Monmouth University, New York Film Academy, University of Tampa, University of Florida and Spelman College.
