Photographers to showcase creativity in new exhibit

The Art Gallery at Eissey Campus is starting its fall season with a photography exhibit featuring the work of 15 local artists beginning Sept. 13.
The exhibit will feature traditional and digital photography with some images incorporating both. An opening reception will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 13.
The works, which will be available for sale, will be on display until Oct. 14. Price ranges will be $350 to $4,500.
The artists are: Ilene Gruber Adams, Erika Cespedes, Rod Faulds, Adriano Ficarelli, Jacek Gancarz, Durga Garcia, Tracie Heller, Silvia Lizama, Cheryl Maeder, Melinda Moore, Sara Rytteke, Elle Schorr, Barry Seidman, Joanne Urban and Matt Vought.

“In the hands of a photographic artist, the camera is just a tool, like a painter’s brush, a starting point toward achieving a creative vision, whether it is consciously planned or happens spontaneously,” said Professor Sherry Stephens, who curated the exhibition with Art Gallery Specialist Karla Walter.
Stephens also notes that much of what transpires between pointing the camera and finishing a print or editing a film is the actual artistic journey for photographers.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Friday.
The Art Gallery at Eissey Campus is located in the first floor of the BB building, 3160 PGA Blvd. For more information, call the gallery at 561-207-5015.
