Five PBSC students named to All-Florida Academic Team
Five Palm Beach State College students have been named to the 2016 All-Florida Academic Team for their academic achievement, leadership and service to the community. They will be recognized at an awards ceremony and receive a medallion on April 21 at the Embassy Suites USF in Tampa.
Erin Lafon of Greenacres, Olivia Lowrey of Lake Worth, Trystan Drew of West Palm Beach, Shneior Zalman Korf of Delray Beach, and an unnamed student were among 128 students from the Florida College System named to the team. They are all members of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In addition, Lafon, Lowrey, Drew and Korf are members of the Dr. Floyd F. Koch Honors College at Palm Beach State.
Each year, an All-Florida Academic Team is named to recognize the most outstanding students in the Florida College System. The students are honored in April because it has been proclaimed by Gov. Rick Scott as Florida College System Month.
These students were nominated by their respective colleges to the All-USA Academic Team competition sponsored by USA Today and the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. In addition, Phi Theta Kappa also distinguishes the top 30 students of each class by selecting them to the All-Florida First Team based on ratings in competition throughout the state.
The All-Florida Academic Team is sponsored by the Florida Lottery, The Florida College System Foundation, Phi Theta Kappa Florida Region, RBC Wealth Management, Coca-Cola Beverages Florida and Capital City Trust Company.
