PBSC staff earn credentials in economic development finance

Vincent Nolan and Betina Jean-Jacques of the Small Business Development Center at Palm Beach State College have become certified as Economic Development Finance Professionals with an emphasis in Business Credit Analysis from the National Development Council.

Nolan is the regional director and Jean-Jacques a consultant for the SBDC at Palm Beach State. Nolan supervises an eight-member consulting staff who delivers small business services to business owners in Palm Beach County while Jean-Jacques focuses on helping mature businesses achieve higher growth potential.

Before becoming certified, the two completed an intensive three-course economic development finance training series and then passed a comprehensive examination.

The SBDC at Palm Beach State College is part of the Florida SBDC Network, a statewide partnership of higher education and economic development organizations dedicated to creating a better Florida for all by helping businesses grow.

The New York-based National Development Council was established in 1972 and is a private non-profit corporation, which specializes in economic/housing development training and technical assistance for economic/housing development. NDC has provided training to approximately 50,000 persons working in the field of economic and housing development. Participants come from many diverse groups: city and state governments, public agencies, community-based organizations, professional organizations, bankers, etc.
