PBSC Lake Worth campus to open for special hours during winter break
The Palm Beach State College Lake Worth campus will be open for four days during the two-week winter break to help students from all campuses register and prepare for their spring classes.
The Admissions/Registration, Advising, Financial Aid and Disability Support Services offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 21-22 and Dec. 28-29. In addition to the Student Services offices, the bookstores at the Lake Worth, Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens campuses also will be open at varying special hours during those days.
All other campus departments and campuses will be closed during the entire break Dec. 19-Jan. 3. The College will resume normal hours on all campuses Jan. 4.
While some of the campus bookstores have been open in the past during winter break, this is the first time that the College has opened its Student Services offices. The special winter break hours are among the College’s enrollment management initiatives. College leaders say they are necessary for students who need personal assistance, and they will help alleviate long lines in the Admissions/Registration office before the start of spring classes Jan. 6.
“We have been exploring and implementing numerous initiatives to ensure that our students are successful, and that also means providing adequate time for them to get the help they need to be ready for spring classes,’’ said Dr. Peter Barbatis, vice president of student services and enrollment management. “We hope that students will take advantage of this opportunity.”
During the winter break, students who cannot make it to the Lake Worth campus also will have access to staff via the online Live Help button. For assistance over the phone, students can call (561) 868-3032. More specific information about the bookstore hours is available at www.palmbeachstate.edu/FAQs/Winterbreak.aspx.
