Wayne Stephens, who teaches art at Palm Beach State College’s Palm Beach Gardens campus, was recognized earlier this month by the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County for his painting “Untitled 2.” It is currently on display at the Council’s Biennial 2015 exhibit in Lake Worth.

The Council chose Stephens’ piece as the second best in the exhibit. He was awarded $1,000. More than 130 artists, ranging from emerging talent to seasoned professionals, submitted artwork, but only 62 pieces were included in the show.

The free exhibit, located at 601 Lake Avenue, runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and includes mixed media, oil on canvas, photography and more. The artwork will be on display through August 29.

This is not the first time Stephens work has been chosen for public viewing. Last year, one of his paintings was among 24 chosen out of 90 for an “Art at the Airport” exhibit sponsored by Palm Beach County’s Art in Public Places program.
