PBSC Golf Classic raises $136,000 for student scholarships

The Palm Beach State College Foundation raised $136,000 for student scholarships from its recent annual Golf Classic. The event drew 140 players, the highest number to date.

The tournament, the Foundation’s premier fundraising event, benefits the Foundation’s STEAM initiative to impact the projected shortage of local, skilled professionals in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) fields.

The Classic took place for the third year on the Mirasol Country Club’s Sunset Course, designed by golf legends Tom Fazio and Arthur Hills.

A “copter drop” contest began the on-course celebration, and contests were featured during tournament play, including hole-in-one competitions sponsored by Braman Motor Cars. Prizes were also awarded for the longest drive, straightest drive and closest to the pin.

The May 1 Golf Classic ended with a cocktail reception, award ceremony and prizes.

The presenting sponsor was Dell Computer Company; major sponsors were: Balfour Beatty Construction, Fastrack MCI, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Pro Sound & Video, Palm Beach Broadcasting, PepsiCo, Lotspeich Co. of FL, Inc., McDonald’s of North Palm Beach County and TGI Office Automation.
