The award, open to all American poets, comes with a cash prize and a publication deal. Gibson said his poetry collection is scheduled for publication in June.

He is among four winners selected during the biennial competition coordinated by the Poetry Center at West Chester University in Pennsylvania; two were selected for 2014 and two for 2015. Gibson will have an opportunity to give a public reading at the annual West Chester University Poetry Conference in early June.

This is the latest in a series of awards that Gibson, who teaches English and literature at the Belle Glade campus, has received. He has published four other books of poetry, including three others published as a reward for winning national book competitions. He also has had more than 150 poems published in a variety of literary and poetry journals.
