In the short time that Shanice Guthrie has been attending Palm Beach State College, she has come to notice the strong unity among its diverse study population. However, she has also noticed that many students feel detached from the school.

Jesse Pulliam, an aspiring engineer who took his first college classes while a high school senior, has been named the new Palm Beach State College student trustee for the 2015-16 academic year.
The Jupiter resident and 2013 William T. Dwyer High School graduate was chosen by a committee after an application and interview process open to all PBSC students with at least a 3.0 grade point average and at least 24 credit hours completed. Patricia Medina, editor-in-chief of the Beachcomber student newspaper at Palm Beach State College, has been selected student trustee for the 2014-2015 academic year.
In the non-voting role created by the District Board of Trustees in 2001, Medina will bring a student perspective on College issues and policies. An eight-member selection committee, which includes students, chose her after a college-wide application process open to the College’s 48,000 students.
