PBSC wins ‘Let’s Move’ video contest
Palm Beach State College will bring home the trophy this week after winning the Palm Healthcare Foundation’s first-ever “Let’s Move” video contest designed to help inspire county residents to get physically active.
The three-minute video produced by Lyn Becker, Lake Worth campus wellness coordinator, features PBSC students, faculty and staff across the College showing different movement activities. Becker will accept the traveling trophy during a reception Thursday to display on campus until next year’s contest.
“This is a well-deserved honor, and you have worked tireless in support of the “Let’s Move” challenge and engaged all departments and students across campuses,’’ Vanessa Moss, communications coordinator for the Center for Philanthropy at the Palm Beach Health Foundation, said in a note to Becker announcing the College as the winner.
“It was a lot of hard work, but it was great fun doing it,” Becker said. “I enjoyed it as well as everyone who participated.”
The video contest was an additional opportunity for teams participating in the Let’s Move: Commit to Change Physical Activity Challenge held March 1-31. Through the initiative, Palm Beach County residents were encouraged to take charge of their health by performing physical activities 30 minute per day. Members of each team recorded their movement activities for the month. In the challenge, PBSC’s team placed 25th out of about 200 teams.
