Palm Beach State College to explore ethical dilemmas in health care Jan. 23

CH1798 - BrawleyPalm Beach State College’s Center for Applied Ethics will present “Ethics and the Transformation of Health Care in America” from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 23 at the Public Safety Training Center conference room.

Keynote speaker is Dr. Otis W. Brawley, chief medical and scientific officer of the American Cancer Society, who will talk about the contemporary health scene, how medicine is practiced and his prescription for policies, providers and patients.

He is also the author of “How We Do Harm: A Doctor Breaks Rank About Being Sick in America.” He will sign copies of the book at 10:30 a.m.

“As a courageous champion of the rational use of health care, Dr. Brawley provides an unflinching guided tour of the back rooms of American medicine and a personal call to action for change,” said Kim Ardila-Morgan, director of the Center of Applied Ethics.
